Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko have reached an agreement with midfielder Justice Blay after uncertainties over his future.

A contract extension has been signed between the club and the player.

The extension will see the hard-tackling midfielder at the club till January 2025.

There were initial reports that Justice Blay, who is at the club for his second spell, was unwilling to sign a contract.

But the club dismissed the reports and stated: “For the records, the club presented a proposal to the player, which included the length of the contract renewal and financial consideration.

“It must be made clear that at no point was a 6-month contract proposed to the player.”

Management urged “our supporters to remain calm and be circumspect about what is being circulated, especially on social media, as the information out there is totally false”.

After the contract extension, the former Medeama SC player expressed happiness, assuring the supporters of doing “better” on the field of play.

“I am happy to have renewed my stay,” he told the club media.

“Kotoko means everything to me and my family. I appreciate the support of everyone in the club, the head coach and the entire management team. And like I have done before in the past, I will continue to do even better.”
