President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says government will continue to invest in the country`s judicial system to improve on justice delivery.

Inaugurating the residential complex for Appeals Court judges Monday, October 17, 2022, President Akufo-Addo was hopeful the investment will motivate judicial service staff in the country.

The 20-unit four-bedroom apartments were funded by the state through the District Assembly Common Fund.

The building, covering a seven-acre plot of land, has facilities like a swimming pool, club house, tennis court, a seven-bedroom guest house, internal roads among others.

President Akufo-Addo was assisted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to inaugurate the state-of-the-art accommodation facility.

He pointed out that, his government values the contribution of judges in the justice delivery system of Ghana, the reason he was determined to provide the requisite incentives and infrastructure to boost their work.

According to him, upholding the Rule of Law remained critical in deepening democracy, justice and freedom of speech.

He stated that it is on the basis of this that his government was investing in a comprehensive e-justice infrastructure to bridge the technological gap in the country`s justice delivery system.

The Chief Justice, Kwasi Annin Yeboah, used the occasion to draw president Akufo-Addo`s attention of the human resource needs of the judiciary service which is largely driven by turnover rate.

“This facility we are inaugurating today will require the engagement of a number of staff for its efficient management and maintenance. They include but not limited to a facility manager, artisans and others,” he noted.

“The new courts all of which come with fully furnished residential accommodation for judges and others will require appropriate human resources in the right numbers.  In other words,  the increase in infrastructure has direct relationships with the number of judges and administrative staff,” he added.

He said the service will require a staff of 2,500.
