A seven-year-old boy was Saturday, September 27, 2025, swept away by flood waters at Abrepo Bronikrom, located in the Bantama municipality of the Ashanti region.

The young boy was among three children bathing in the rainwater when one of their slippers was swept away.

In an effort to retrieve the slipper, Kwame was carried away by the flood in the gutter.

Sources gathered by our news team from the people around indicated that, when his colleagues saw him taking away by the flood, they rushed to his rescue only to be told that the running water had already taken him away.

A search party was organized but could not trace the victim as at the time this report was being filed.

According to eyewitness Kojo Mensah, as of Sunday morning, September 28, efforts to retrieve the boy’s body have been unsuccessful.

He expressed regret about the incident and said it was unfortunate that such a thing had happened to the child.

“We’ve been there like three times and even brought a fetish priest and sacrificed a hen and eggs. The priest told us that there’s a palm tree he’s under, but he’s not there.

“And as I’m talking to you, we’ve still not seen him and believe that he’s still in the water.

“We are really scared because this is the first time this is happening here in our community,” he said.

As of the morning, neither the police nor rescue teams had visited the scene.
