3news can confirm that work has halted on the La General Hospital redevelopment project site for the past 2 months.
Opinion leaders and residents of La have called out the Member of Parliament for the area as well as government for failing to deliver on their promise.
Promises to complete the La General Hospital redevelopment project is beginning to sound like a cliché, according to residents who are not the least happy.

The hospital project which was started during the administration of the previous government is yet to be completed denying residents easy access to medical care.
A visit to the site saw weeds taking over the project.

Information gathered indicates the last batch of workers left the site on June 17. There is no equipment on site and materials have been left unattended with no sight of a contractor.

The iron rods are rusting fast ostensibly because of the site’s close proximity to the sea. The project which became a campaign tool for the current administration is still faced with financial challenges.
Madam Gifty Zanu, a resident recounts how she did not hear of the project being mentioned in the two budget statements read by the Finance minister in parliament.

‘‘We are disappointed. There is nothing happening there. All the workers have left the site. They say there is no money. Our MP told us during campaign that her party was not in power so there was nothing she could do. Now she is quiet. We haven’t heard anything form her or government on the project completion. They should come and tell us something.’’ She said.

Another resident Samuel Logojo shared same sentiments. As he attends to his laundry business around the hospital project site, he cannot fathom the silence from government.

“You go to another hospital, and they laugh at us that we have sat down and allowed our hospital to be demolished. There is nothing going on there. Our MP was coming around those days. Now we hardly see her or even hear something from her’’. He said.
A senior citizen in the community, Madam Anabel was utterly disappointed.

‘‘They said the contractor has not been paid since last year. They should do something about the situation. Our MP, she should do something. We need the project completed to meet our health needs’’. She lamented
All efforts to reach the Member of Parliament for the area proved futile.
