The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has commended the security services for arresting once deported Chinese illegal gold miner, Aisha Huang.

Speaking to the media after the launch of an award scheme to award responsible small scale miners, the Deputy Minister for the ministry in charge of Mines, George Mireku Duker called on the public to have confident in the security services in dealing with her crimes according to the laws of the country.

He said the manner with which the security handled her case was done accordingly.

On Monday, September 5, 2022, news on the arrest of once deported Chinese illegal gold miner, Aisha Huang took over the airwaves.

Since her rearrest, the ministry responsible for mining has remained silent.

But speaking to the media Friday, September 9, on the sidelines on the award launch, Mr. Mireku Duker said the issue is a security matter and trust the security agencies to handle it well.

“One, she has been arrested. Two, I commend the security agencies for that. Let’s leave the matter for the security agencies to do their own work. I believe the issue was also handled accordingly,” he noted.

Meanwhile, a committee according to the Deputy minister has been set to handle the missing excavators brouhaha.

“The excavators there is a committee on it. We have the police who are now taking charge of the excavators so that one has been catered for and the inventory is being handed over to the police.
