Residents of Nuaso in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality have resisted the installation of prepaid metres in their community, creating tension.

The resistance led to the withdrawal of military personnel and Electricity Company of Ghana officials on two instances on Monday, June 27, 2022.

The Nuaso community is currently without electricity.

Kpongunor residents upon hearing the incident at Nuaso marched up to help Nuaso residents to resist the exercise, but the Military and ECG officials had already left the area.

The Assemblyman for Nuaso New Town Electoral Area, Raymond Asare Partey, demanded more education is needed for residents before the prepaid installation exercise can continue.

“They were agitating because there was no communication on the ground. They need education, even though they know about the exercise they need to know where they can have access to the credit and everything before the prepared can be installed in their homes. Tomorrow we have an education exercise for the community,” Mr. Partey revealed.
