The Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, in collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Ibrahim Faila, has cut sod for the construction of an 18-unit classroom block for Pantang Basic Schools A and B.
The project, sited on land near the Pantang Hospital, is expected to significantly enhance teaching and learning, while addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges facing basic education in the community.
Speaking to the media at the sod-cutting ceremony, Mr Sosu reaffirmed the Pantang community’s consistent support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the area as a loyal stronghold that has stood firmly with the party over the years. He emphasized that elections should be centered on development, urging voters to prioritize leaders who demonstrate genuine commitment to improving the welfare of the people.
“We have been active in this community for several years, and development remains our guiding principle,” the Madina MP stated.

Reflecting on the past eight years of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, Sosu argued that the Pantang electoral area has little to show in terms of tangible development. In contrast, he noted that the NDC’s return to office is already yielding visible results at the local level.
According to him, the commencement of the 18-unit classroom block within a short period under the current municipal administration, with his support as MP, is evidence of focused, dedicated, and results-oriented leadership.
Mr Sosu further appealed to residents of Madina, Pantang, and Ghanaians at large to remain patient and cautiously optimistic as the NDC-led government works to address the country’s economic challenges.
“The NPP took eight years to create the difficulties we are currently facing, and these challenges cannot be resolved in just one year,” he explained. “While we are working to revive the economy, manage the debt situation, and stabilize public finances, the impact of these efforts will take time to fully reflect in the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.”

He urged citizens to maintain faith in President John Dramani Mahama and the policies being implemented by the NDC, expressing confidence that their benefits would gradually be felt across the country.
Beyond the ongoing classroom project, Sosu revealed that discussions are underway with the GETFund administration to establish a technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institution in Pantang.
“In due course, Pantang will benefit from a GETFund-funded technical and vocational institution,” he disclosed, adding that other development projects are being planned and will be announced at the appropriate time.
Road infrastructure, he acknowledged, remains a major concern for residents of Madina. He assured the public that the issue is receiving urgent attention. “The MCE and I are in constant engagement with the Urban Roads and Feeder Roads departments to ensure that Madina is prioritized for road rehabilitation and improvement,” he said.
In his address, the Municipal Chief Executive, Ibrahim Faila, announced that President John Dramani Mahama had allocated a portion of his District Specific Fund (DSF) to support development in the Pantang electoral area.
“Today, we gather to officially initiate the construction of this 18-unit classroom block for the people of Pantang,” the MCE said. “We are deeply grateful to the chiefs and elders of Pantang for their patience over the past seven to eight years.”
He assured residents that the assembly is committed to ensuring the contractor commences work immediately and completes the project before embarking on any additional initiatives.
