The Special Committee set by the Speaker of Parliament to probe the chaos that disrupted the vetting of ministerial nominees on Thursday, January 30, 2025, has began its work.

The Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, following the incident took an immediate decision and suspended four of the Members of Parliament and constituted a committee to probe the matter.

The seven member-committee has invited the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, to testify before the Committee, events that led to the scuffle that saw the destruction of tables and microphones that were being used for the vetting.

The Bawku Central lawmaker, upon his invite, narrated to the committee, what he saw on the day the incident happened.

After narrating his account, he was asked if a video that was played at the hearing was a true representation of what he saw on the day.

In his response, he indicated that what was observed in the video was a fraction of what ensued, depending on the position of the camera that captured the video in question.

Ayariga explained that what eyewitnesses observed in the room was different from what was captured on TV since the camera could only tell the story from one point of angle at a time.

The Minister of Roads and Natural Resources, Governs Kwame Agbodza, took his turn and brought the committee up to speed on what he observed on the day after the Majority Leader’s account.
