English Premier League side Manchester United have officially announced the appointment of Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as their new manager.
The Portuguese will officially take charge on Monday, November 11.
Amorim, 39, will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club, the club said.
A statement released by the Red Devils described Ruben Amorim as “one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football”.
Highly decorated as both a player and coach, his titles include winning the Primeira Liga twice in Portugal with Sporting CP; the first of which was the club’s first title in 19 years.”
Amorim replaces Dutchman Erik ten Hag, who left his role on Monday, October 28 after the 1-2 loss to West Ham United.
Former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who served as Assistant Manager, took charge and is expected to continue until Ruben joins.
