Four suspects have been picked up by the Mankrong Nkwanta police in the Agona East district of the Central region for allegedly stealing two government vehicles.

Reports indicate that the two vehicles –a borehole drilling machine and a pickup truck — belong to the National Service Authority (NSA).

They were reported missing in January 2025 at Osino, a town in the Eastern region.

According to the eyewitness whose account led to the arrest of the suspects, he had gone to the said place the two vehicles had been parked for his rounds when he saw on Facebook that the drilling machine and truck have been missing since January this year.

He tells Onua News’ Nana Yaw Asare that the publication was admonishing the public to report to appropriate authorities upon sighting the two vehicles.

Isaac Owusu Ampomah, the eyewitness, reported the matter to his uncle, Seth Arhin, a former Assemblyman for Mankrong electoral area, who told him to report the matter to the police.

“I went to Mankrong Junction to do something and when I opened my Facebook, I saw that the National Service Authority (NSA) had announced that two of their vehicles; a borehole drilling machine and a truck, were missing at Osino since 11th January.

“Then I saw the two vehicles had been parked in front of a cocoa shed at Mankrong Junction so I watched out to find those who parked it but to no avail. I reported the matter to my uncle and I went to report the matter to the police at Mankrong Junction,” he recounted.

Mr. Ampomah added that he went with the Station Officer to the scene to check if they would find any of the suspects but to no avail.

He disclosed however, that “when I went there this morning, they had arrested four people with two others on the run. They told the Station Officer that a certain official asked them to go for the vehicle but they didn’t give details.”

His uncle, the former Assemblyman, corroborated his report. Meanwhile, the suspects are currently in police custody pending investigations.
