Workers of the Metro Mass Transit Ltd. are saying their “incompetent, not truthful and not trustworthy management should go if they cannot manage the company anymore.

The workers who are embarking on a demonstration have been telling Onuaonline their salaries have delayed for two months now, whilst their 5-year Provident Fund has not been paid.

They complain further that management has not been transparent on deductions from their salaries including weekend bonuses and welfare accoutrements due them to cushion their work.

The workers, who angrily expressed their plight to Onuaonline disclosed a colleague of them has developed stroke this morning and rushed to the Cocoa Clinic upon hearing their salary for last month has not come yet.

Also among the allegations they made include an erratic adjustment of salaries which ideally is supposed to have been effected each year.

After taking over in 2017, the current management, according to the workers, has increased their salaries only in 2019 at 10% and 15% for them based on respective positions.

“Our money. Our PF (Provident Fund), GLICO, Insurance and unpaid salaries are the reasons we are embarking on this protest. They have deducted us for 5 years but they don’t pay our PF. Weekend and holiday allowance don’t come. Boots, milo and milk and other things don’t come. Now we can’t pay for lands that we purchased and the Estate Agent is threatening to take back the lands. For two months now our salaries haven’t come. Our salaries are supposed to be increased each year but they only gave us 10% and 15% to some others in 2017. After that nothing more,” they poured out.

“The management should just leave if they can’t. They always lie to us. They are incompetent. They are not truthful to us. They are not trustworthy. I have been working for 14 years but my salary is 700 cedis and every month after deducting my loan, I’m left with only 500 cedis,” they demanded, adding that the condition has made their wives abandon them.

Efforts to get the management to respond to the allegations have proved futile.
