The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is urging the police to arrest the suspect in the shooting incident at Kasoa during the December 7 elections on Saturday.
Inussah Bukari was shot in the thigh by an individual identified as Majeed at the Odupongkpehe Zongo park where a voting center was situated.
Eyewitness accounts at the time of the shooting suggested that, Bukari had attempted to calm down tempers of another person who was engaged in a confrontation with the shooter when the shooter fired a pump action gun into his thigh.
The suspect fled the scene immediately after committing the nefarious act.
The victim who was rushed to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital at Winneba is responding to treatment.
During a visit to the victim of the shooting, the Awutu Senya East constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Oteng Pabi, called on the police to ensure the immediate arrest of the perpetrator and make him face the law.
“…Because he was brandishing two guns, one pump action in his car and one pistol in his pocket, he was doing all kinds of things at the polling station. Wen an attempt was made to calm him down for him to stop what he was doing, that was when he fired the gun and our brother Bukari is in such condition so we decided to visit him and also collaborate with the police to arrest the suspect. We know the guy who fired the gun so together with the police, we have to go and manhunt for him and get him arrested,” he stated.
Another shooting incident at Kasoa on the elections day led to the death of two NDC supporters and left one other injured bringing the total number of gunshot victims to four.
Meanwhile, the NDC has commended its members in Kasoa for remaining calm and refraining from attacking NPP members and government officials following the declaration of polls.
