NDC Parlimentary candidate hopeful for Kwesimtsim, Ing. Frank Kwoffie Pinto, has called for increment in the nomination and filling fees for members who seek to represent the party at the Legislature.

The ₵40,000.00 for the nomination and an additional ₵40,000.00 for the filing he noted, is too meagre an amount to raise enough funds for the party.

Increasing the ransom, he indicated, will help the NDC accrue more funds to steer affairs of the party.

He has therefore called for the amount to be raised to ₵200,000.00.

Addressing the press after picking his nomination, Mr. Pinto informed the gathering to debunk the rumours that he has opted out of the contest.

He, however, affirmed his resolve to win the Kwesimintsim seat for the NDC for the first time, assuring them of his readiness to serve them if given the nod.

“I want to assure my followers that, some of my contenders are going round to perpetrate lies that, I am out of the contest. But that is not the case. I am still in the contest and we are going to show them that for the first time in the history Kwesimtsim constituency, with leadership of Ing. Frank Kwofie Pinto, we are going to flip this seat from the NPP to the NDC. As you can see I have bought my nomination forms and the endorsement is still ongoing hoping to end it by the close of Friday 24th February, 2023,” he stated.

He revealed he has secured a party office for the executives in the constituency as they requested from him.

“Not long ago, NDC appears to have died in the constituency but with the appearance of Ing. Pinto, NDC have resurrected. Everyone is now seeing the existence of NDC in Kwesimtsim Constituency and let me state that, as the constituency put before me a request to get them a party office, I have managed to secure the constituency a party office and by next week Saturday March 4, 2023, it will be handed over to the leadership of the constituency,” he disclosed.

He further added that, his coming is not just to close the gap between them and the NPP, but rather to win the seat for the first time.

“Some contenders are going around telling delegates that, this seat is difficult to flip and for that matter they will try to close the gap. We don’t have house for people who close gaps, and for me, the eleven thousand votes difference between NDC and NPP, I will break the records and secure more votes in addition,” he assured.

On the filing fees for the parliamentary candidates, Ing. Pinto had this to say: “I will entreat that, the forty thousand cedis for filling fees plus additional forty thousand that goes to regional party office, is something very small considering the fact that the party has been in opposition for the past six years and so if there is any ways or any means they should increase the fees to at least about two hundred thousand, because we need money to make the party more attractive in the constituencies. That will help flip the constituency from NPP to NDC,” he suggested.
