The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced an upward adjustment of its fees for registration services effective Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

The updated fees will apply to citizens obtaining or updating their national identification cards (Ghana cards).

The NIA is advising all individuals to take note of these adjustments and make the necessary arrangements.

The Authority noted that the revision of the fees aligns with the provisions of the Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provision Regulations) 2023 (L.I. 2481).

Per the new fees, first time registration for the Ghana card at the Authority’s premium centre is GHS310 but the service is free at its district office.

Also, Ghana card replacement will cost victims GHS420 at the premium centre and GHS125 at the regional or district office.

The purpose of revising the fees is to guarantee that the NIA can sustainably deliver efficient services to the public. This adjustment also aims to ensure that the costs of the NIA’s operations are adequately covered.

The NIA is steadfast in its commitment to upholding the security and reliability of the Ghana card. The implementation of the new fees is part of the effort to bolster and finance these crucial endeavors.
