DJ Azonto has made an interesting claim on 3FM Drive that his hit single, Fa No Fom, has courted more attention worldwide than any of Black Sherif’s songs.
Currently, DJ Azonto has twelve awards to his name, most of them locally awarded, including Face of Ghana Youth Awards, Most Consistent Artiste of the Year – Ghana Premier Awards, Festival of Arts Conference, DJ Azonto -African Spotlight Artiste of the year and Most Influential Artiste of the Year – Ghana Premier Awards.
According to him, his hottest single, Fa No Fom, is more popular than all of Blacko’s songs, buttressing his point with an award he won from a category featuring Black Sherif’s Kwaku The Traveller.
“Facts are facts, and the truth is only one. We know that Blacko is an international artiste, and I give him that respect. But none of Blacko’s songs has travelled more than Fa No Fom. It’s a fact,” he stated.
He continued by listing places – like Chad, Afghanistan and Turkey – where Fa No Fom has gained prominence through data from streaming platforms.
DJ Azonto also revealed his intentions to contest for the most sought-after award, VGMA Artiste of the Year. He mentioned that he has already filed his nominations believing he will emerge the winner this year.
