Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and Energy Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh also known as Napo, has asked delegates to vote against any candidate who preaches hate and party disunity.

A similar statement made by the wife of the Vice President, Samira Bawumia, perceived to be targeting Kennedy Agyapong drew a reaction from the Assin Central lawmaker’s camp.

According to Napo, party members should guide against any speech that has the tendency to create confusion or division within the party.

“I am telling you that very soon you will hear a lot of tribal and religious politics. Religion and tribal background should never be entertained to divide the people of Ghana,” he cautioned.

He pointed out that, any Rev. Minister who says one should not be voted for because of his or her religious background or tribe is not a true man of God.

Dr Opoku Prempeh was speaking during a presentation of an award to him by artisans in Manhyia South when commissioning an ultramodern office for the constituency at Ash Town in Kumasi.

He told the party delegates to be careful not to elect any candidate who would bring confusion or division in the party.

He was, however, hopeful that any of the four aspirants who would be elected will perform better than former President Mahama.

The former Education Minister urged the party members to desist from attacks and insults ahead of the presidential primary to ensure the NPP presents a united front for the 2024 elections.

Speaking on the recent load shedding, he said power has been provided despite the inadequate supply of gas, adding that they shouldn’t allow themselves to be deceived by the NDC.
