The paramount chief of Ejisu traditional area, Nana Afrane Okese IV, has thrown a challenge to the public over his certainty of John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen winning the upcoming presidential primary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The former Trade and Industry minister and NPP flagbearer hopeful has begun a six-day campaign in the Ashanti region.

He will be counting on approximately 119 delegates for the August 26 special voting dubbed the Super Delegates Conference.

Making his first stop at the Ejisu palace, the paramount chief assured him of his support both physically and spiritually, throwing a challenge to anyone that doubts Alan Kyerematen’s chances of becoming the NPP’s flagbearer.

“I am certain that it shall be well. Even they are aware themselves that it shall be well. Do not be afraid. I am solidly behind you in all ways, be it in money, spiritual and everything, I am behind him. It is the same way I am urging his followers not to be afraid because it shall be well. Nobody should frighten him. We are supporting him with the stools. Anyone who wishes can bet me on it,” he told the gathering in Twi during Team Alan’s visit at the Ejisu palace.

Ten persons are aspiring for the NPP’s flagbearership position including John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the former Trade and Industry minister, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong being the three top contenders for the race.

Meanwhile, the party will slice the number by half in a super delegates conference August 26 before the actual contest takes place.
