A former Minister of Roads and Highways under the erstwhile John Kufuor administration, Dr Richard Anane, has poured cold water on allegations that he has a favourite candidate in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.

Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9fm in Kumasi with Sir John, on Wednesday, November 26,2025, Dr Anane stated without mincing words that he is not supporting any of the candidates seeking to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections and that he only wants to see a united NPP.

He described as “false” and “malicious” claims he is using his position as former MP for Nhyiaeso to campaign for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who is among the five NPP bigwigs seeking to become the party’s candidate for the 2028 polls.

He, therefore, urged such rumours to be treated with the contempt it deserves because he cannot impose a candidate on the party.

“The allegation is being made that Dr Anane is putting his authority behind the Hon Ken. I want to say in very clear terms to you and to the world that it is a false and malicious narrative,” Dr Anane said.

According to him, “There is not a single truth to it. That is why I can beat my chest to it, and I can say without any fear of contradiction that there is no one in the party, there is no candidate among the aspirants that I’m supporting.”

He called on all party members to come together for the future of the NPP.
