The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has petitioned the Disciplinary Committee of the party to investigate its Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Agyei, popularly known as Abronye.

NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, in a letter signed on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, said Abronye has indulged in “series of actions deemed not only unbecoming of a member of the Party but also gravely detrimental to the image, unity, and integrity of the organisation.”

Among the key concerns raised in the petition include the defamation of a senior party member, where he is said to have publicly insulted a 2028 flag bearer hopeful of the party, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

According to the petition, Abronye had claimed that “even the elephant has more wisdom than Hon. Agyapong.”

This is what the party leadership has described as remarks deemed “unprintable, defamatory, and damaging to the reputation of Hon. Agyapong and the party at large.”

Abronye is also accused of making baseless allegations against the General Secretary of the party, claiming Mr. Kodua Frimpong had concealed a report that purportedly implicated Ken Agyapong as the one damaging the image of the party and suggesting he should be expelled.

“These allegations are false, malicious, and injurious to the integrity of the Office of the General Secretary,” the statement added.

The petition also said Abronye has disclosed and misrepresented contents of a disciplinary committee report, making several allegations against the personality of Ken. Agyapong.

The conduct, is what the party says “constitutes a serious breach of confidentiality, discretion, decorum, and party discipline, while also undermining the authority of the Committee.”

The NPP is therefore asking its National Disciplinary Committee
to: “Conduct a full and impartial inquiry into the conduct of Mr. Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC) and apply the appropriate disciplinary sanctions in accordance with the Party’s
Constitution, as his conduct constitutes defamation, misconduct, and gross indiscipline.”

“The party emphasises that ensuring accountability within its ranks is non-negotiable because it safeguards the unity, integrity, and credibility of the organisation. The leadership remains committed to fairness, discipline, and the protection of the Party’s democratic values,” the petition concluded.
