Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo says the entire team is shocked at the leg injury sustained by midfielder Francis Abu in the friendly against Japan.

He said the injury was very serious though such happens in football.

“We should be a little bit shocked because we had this injury,” he said at the post-match press conference.

“I know it can happen in football but it was really serious.”

The Toulouse player broke his right leg in the second half and was stretchered off.

He was immediately ambulanced to the Toyota Memorial Hospital, where medical practitioners met to decide on a management plan for him.

Japan’s Ao Tanaka was remorseful of his tackle that led to the injury.

Otto Addo was full of praise not only for the Leeds United player but also for the entire Japanese for the courtesy accorded the Ghanaian team after the incident.

“We really appreciate the player and you can see in general he was very nice [and] all the Japanese people are very polite. We had a good time here.

“And it’s not a normal thing that we really appreciate the player not only comes to our player to say sorry for what happened but also comes to me as a coach. We don’t take it for granted. This kind of behaviour I think it is a very good education in Japan.”
