Three persons have died in an accident at Asenema on the Adukrom–Koforidua Highway in the Eastern Region.

Their bodies were trapped in an overturned truck.

The accident involved a HOWO truck which reportedly overturned, trapping three male occupants.

It took firefighters hours to carry out an extrication operation and retrieved the bodies of the victims.

They were transported to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital.

Medical officers at the hospital later pronounced them dead. Their bodies have since been deposited at the hospital morgue.

The Eastern Regional Public Relations officer of the Ghana National Fire Service DOII Ignatius Kwamena Baidoo, has urged motorists to adhere strictly to road regulations at all times to prevent such tragedies.

“Motorists should obey road signs and maintain their vehicles in good condition to help prevent such accidents.” He advised.
