The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, with support from the Auditor-General, has announced the recovery of over GH¢12.9 billion in misappropriated public funds.

The Committee commenced its work few weeks ago, engaging officials from various ministries, departments and agencies to respond to financial infractions and misappropriations captured in the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report.

Stressing on the Committee’s tenet of accountability, Chairperson of the Committee, Abena Osei-Asare, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, lauded the Auditor-General’s office for its collaboration in making the recovery.

“One thing I am clear about is that what we are doing is yielding positive results. We have a report we will look at. Per the work of the Public Accounts Committee, and with the support of the Auditor-General, we have been able to retrieve GH¢12.9 billion. There is a whole report on that which we will be sharing with the public at the right time,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Committee is expected to resume sittings on October 27, 2025.
