The forecourt of the Legon City Mall in Ghana’s capital city of Accra on Saturday 22nd March, 2025 was the center of attraction as hundreds of people from far and near converged for the third edition of the 3FM Gobɛ Festival.

From sizzling plates of delicious Gobɛ to electrifying performances, fierce eating contests, epic dance battles, unforgettable memories, and comradeship, this was more than a festival, it was a whole buffet of a lifetime experience.

Gobɛ is a beans-based meal which derives its name from the acronym Gari Oil Beans Exetara (egg, fried ripe plantain, rice). More than half of Ghana’s population enjoy Gobɛ. It is prominently featured on the menu in schools in Ghana. Aside from its well-balanced nutritional value, gobɛ is also affordable to the average Ghanaian.

Minister for Sports and Recreation and the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, Kofi Adams expressed his excitement about the 3FM Gob3 Festival. He commended the organizers, 3FM 92.7 MHz ‘Your Urban Lifestyle Radio’ for putting together such an important event to celebrate the Ghana month- March.

“We need to be doing this often, it gives us the opportunity to interface. The reason why I am here is in two folds. This is Ghana month and you have assembled an array of Ghanaian centered food, beverages and items.

Again, I am the Minister for Sports and Recreation, and this event is an aspect of recreation which impresses me hence I thought I needed to be here to encourage the organizers” Mr. Adams proclaimed as he addressed the patrons of the 3FM Gob3 Festival.

Six people made it to the final contest of the 3FM Gobɛ Festival’s Gobɛthon and battled each other in the most exciting eating contest. Berla the Kasoa rep came third, M.I.C from Tema took the second position whereas Cizoo won the contest for Dansoman.

As both the young and old enjoyed various fun games provided by ‘Games on Wheels’, a troop of seasoned DJs like DJ Kobo, DJ Abiam, DJ Baros and DJ Filter took turns to fire patrons with songs that kept them on their feet.

Media personalities, AJ Sarpong, Helen Appiah-Ampofo, Johnnie Hughes, Samuel Afriyie Asoreba, and King Kwaku Mensah alongside MC Romeo Taylor, Danny the MC kept the place blazing with positive energy as they engaged patrons in fun activities.

With their instruments including Seperewa (Ghanaian Harp-lute), Dawuta (Twin bell), Ntorwa (Big rattle), Kpanlogo drums, Djembe drum, Gome (Frame drums) and the Guitar, among others, multiple award winning dynamic indigenous band in Ghana that performs and promotes indigenous music of Africa in various forms, Kwan Pa captivated patrons with their sweet palm wine music renditions of favorite Ghanaian songs.

There was live streaming and regular updates on social media, live broadcast on radio 3FM 92.7 MHz, and intermittent updates on Ghana’s leading television, TV 3 hence several thousands of audiences across the globe were able to have a feel of the 3FM Gobɛ Festival.

Lois Kissiedu, the Head of Station has expressed her profound gratitude to the sponsors: Bills Microcredit, Orijin Beer, Fidelity Bank, Nkulenu Foods, Daywa Lotteries, First Bank and the supporters; Games on Wheels, Event Factory, and Wedding Engineers.

She also acknowledged the amazing reviews of the 2025 edition of the 3FM Gobɛ Festival and assures all stakeholders of a well improved edition next year.
