A devastating rainstorm has struck the Adankwaman Senior High School in the Assin South district of the Central region on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, ripping off the school’s roof.

The heavy rainfall, which affected several parts of southern Ghana, also caused flooding in the national capital, Accra. The destruction affected a 6-unit classroom block, a boys’ dormitory, dining hall, and pavilions.

Although the school is currently on vacation, with students set to return on Saturday, October 11, 2025, the damage has raised concerns, with authorities taking proactive steps to ensure minimal disruption to academic activities.

District Chief Executive, Jonathan Birikorang and Deputy District Director of Education, Isaac Opoku Nkoom, have confirmed that arrangements are underway to provide a safe study environment for the students ahead of the reopening.

Efforts are ongoing to restore normalcy before the students return, with officials working to secure an alternative location, prioritising the students’ academic needs despite the setback.
