Hundreds of homes have been submerged in parts of Weija in Accra following the spillage of the Weija Dam.
This has left thousands of residents stranded, as the floods have forced them out of their homes.
3news’ Michael Ogbodu reported that a few hours earlier, an entire stretch was bare land, but hours after the spillage of the Weija Dam, the entire area was submerged.
“All these homes you see behind me have been abandoned as residents found their way out salvaging all they could. Some even had to resort to canoes in order to move away all they could lay their hands on.
As I report, the water is almost on my waistline. It shows you how high the water level is. And the residents are not sure where many of them will be passing the night because they have been caught unawares with the flooding that has occurred today,” he reported.
