The Prestea Magistrate Court, presided over by His Lordship Iddi Adama has remanded a 29-year-old man, David Anane, into police custody for allegedly stealing roofing sheets and construction materials belonging to a church.

Anane, who pleaded not guilty, was ordered to reappear before the court on June 5, 2025, as investigations continue.

According to the prosecution, the accused was caught on May 12, 2025, around 7:00 p.m. at the premises of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), at Bogoso Akokobedi Aburo.

The head pastor of the church, Rev. Tamaklo, reported that the accused was found with another individual identified only as “Ebony,” carrying a sack containing metal pipes and several pieces of roofing sheets.

The church’s security officer, who made the discovery, said the two men claimed they were hungry and intended to sell the items to scrap dealers to raise money for food.

The church authorities were immediately contacted, leading to the arrest of Anane. His alleged accomplice, however, managed to escape and is currently at large.

During court proceedings, the prosecution team, argued that the accused be remanded to assist police in apprehending the second suspect.

His Lordship Iddi Adama upheld the request and remanded Anane into police custody. The case has been adjourned to June 5, 2025.
