Redeemer Saviour Academy School is yet to resume school activities following Wednesday evening’s boat accident that claimed the lives of 9 children.

Six (6) of the children are pupils of the school and they have been on a holiday since the incident two days ago.

Currently, no boat or canoes are moving on the estuary making it impossible for students and traders cross over to the other side.

Nine school children drowned on their way from school at Faana-Bortianor, an island community near Weaboman in the Weija Gbawe municipality of the Greater Accra region Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

The incident involved 11 passengers who were on board a canoe that capsised and left 8 drowned and one missing.

Explaining the incident on Maakye on Onua TV/FM Thursday, Weija Gbawe Municipal NADMO Director, Emmanuel Adu Boahene said three persons survived the incident and had been discharged from the hospital.

He explained that the Member of Parliament for Weija, Tina Naa Ayerley Mensah, together with the MCE and other authorities were at the scene in search of the body of the missing person.

OnuaOnline sources indicate the canoe owner is currently assisting the police with investigation.
