The Paramount chief of the Bawku Traditional Area, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, has called on the Vice President and flag bearer of the New Patriotic Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to give the Kusal people a region should he be elected President.

According to the Bawku Naba, Kusal is a large area with six administrative regions and constituencies, saying it will not be out of place for them to get a region.

During a courtesy call on him by the Vice President Saturday, July 27, 2024, as part of his campaign tour, the Paramount Chief of the Bawku Traditional Area asked the NPP flag bearer to remember them should he ascend the high office of the President.

“If you look at Kusal, it is big –six administrative districts and six constituencies. It is my wish that we get a region, and so, I want to inform you, when you are sworn as President of the Republic of this country, please remember to give Kusal a region,” the chief pleaded.

He also advised Dr. Bawumia to see the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, as his brother since they all hail from the north.

He expressed his felicitation over the fact that two persons from the north are contesting for the highest office of the land at the same time, following Dr. Hilla Liman, who first became President from the north, with John Mahama following suit.

The Bawku Naba added that Dr. Bawumia was qualified to assume the presidency once he has been elected flag bearer of his party, and he will back him with prayers to ensure his dream becomes a reality.

“You are interested and at the same time, NDC flag bearer (John Dramani Mahama) is also interested. But at the end of the day, one of you will win and become President. For the first time, we are having two people coming from this area and definitely, one of you will become President. First it was Liman and then Mahama and now you have also come.

“As you are seated today, it means you qualify to occupy the seat now. By the grace of the Almighty Allah, you’ll win the election,” he prayed.

We to look up to God, our ancestors and gov’t to restore peace – Bawku Naba
