Roads and Highways Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza has assured the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II that the government will protect the country’s heritage as it undertakes road projects and modernises Accra ahead of Ghana’s 70th anniversary.

He said the government was mindful of the country’s heritage and would not deliberately destroy places of historical importance in the name of development.

“We assure you that we are sensitive to our heritage as a people. We will not willingly or just carelessly destroy any place of historical importance to our city or to any part of our country,” Agbodza said.

He gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy call on Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

He, however, stressed the need for cooperation from stakeholders as the government pursues its plans to modernise the capital.

“We need the support of you and all the stakeholders so that we can do this together while modernising the city but not losing our heritage,” he added.
