Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza has appealed to Ghanaians to exercise patients for the inconveniences caused by various road construction projects across the country.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on TV3 New Day, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the Minister assured that government will see to it that the projects will be completed expeditiously to ease the inconvenience experienced by Ghanaians.

“I will only plead with the public that whiles we are doing this there will be some inconveniences so bare with us. we are going to continue and work expeditiously to make sure it is going to be completed on time,” the Minister noted.

He disclosed that the second tranche of construction of the motorway towards Central University has been awarded to local construction firm, First Sky Limited.

He stressed that government is confident that the company will be able to complete the project ahead of the 2027 deadline that has been given to them.

“That project stalled because of debt restructuring that is they were supposed to do service lanes and the tranche 2 was supposed to be the main carriage way because they were unable to perform partly due to the debt restructuring, we have decided to include the tranche 2 to Big Push and awarded to Ghanaian firm, First Sky who is one of the leading local construction firms and they are on the site working,” he said.

Kwame Governs Agbodza further revealed that government has awarded GHC50 billion worth of road contracts so far since it assumed office.

The Minister said these contracts cut across the country and form part of the Big Push Agenda by government.

“So, the President has got big plans backed by our own money. So far, we have awarded GHC50 billion worth of work. Those are the big ticket ones and it touches every region,” he stated.

The projects include; Tepa- Mabang-Goaso project, Kumasi outer ring road, Sunyani outer ring road, Techiman-Nkosoa-Wenchi road, Dualization of the Winneba-Cape Coast road, the Ekye Amanfrom Bridge, Kwahu Tafo project, Dodowa-Afienya road, Motorway and Central University road project, Dambai bridge, rehabilitation of the Dimtri-Nyankapduri road, construction of the third ring round around Tamale, Wenchi-Sawla road, Navrongo-Tumu road, Tumu-Lawra road, Atimpoku-Aflao-Ho project, dualization of Cape Coast-Takoradi, construction of Dadieso-Akontombra road, etc.
