Six months after being honored by the Government of Ghana with a diplomatic passport, Grammy-nominated Reggae musician, Rocky Dawuni has opened up about how the recognition continues to shape his work and international engagements.
Speaking on Showbiz 360 with host Giovani Caleb on Friday, March 20, 2026, Dawuni highlighted the tangible impact of the prestigious honor, particularly in easing his travels and strengthening his global outreach.
“A lot of times, you do things not with the intention of it coming back to you. But when you’ve done it for so many years and, at some point, your country recognizes your effort, there’s a sense of gratitude” he noted.
“It’s facilitated a lot of things in terms of travels. It’s really helped me in doing the work that I do. So I’m honored by it,” Rocky Dawuni added.
In September 2025, the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, awarded diplomatic passports to five distinguished individuals in recognition of their contributions to promoting Ghanaian culture and excellence on the international stage.
For Dawuni, whose music and activism have long served as a bridge between Ghana and the global community, the gesture represents more than convenience; it is a meaningful symbol of national appreciation for years of dedication and impact.

The recognition also reflects Ghana’s broader commitment to leveraging arts and culture as instruments of soft power, positioning influential creatives like Dawuni as ambassadors of the nation’s identity and values worldwide.
As a four-time Grammy nominee, Rocky Dawuni continues to tour, perform, and advocate across continents, proudly representing Ghana while using his platform to amplify African voices and stories, with greater ease and a renewed sense of purpose.
