The Sefwi Wiawso Magistrate Court presided over by his worship Lawrence Buenor has granted bail to Nana Anim Baffour, chief of Sefwi Elubo and three others.

The chief and his brother, Kwadwo Affi, Maxwell Quansah and Williams Acquah were arrested by the police for indulging in galamsey at Sehwi Elubo inside their compound house and bedrooms.

Freelancer Emmanuel Sowah tells Onuaonline they were granted a bail of GH₵100,000.00 each with surety of a Ghana card and are to reappear in court on October 11, 2022.

They were charged with conspiracy to commit crime with mining without license and mining without license.

The chief and his brother were arrested by the police on Friday, September 16, 2022, Sehwi Elubo.

Six other persons were being pursued.

The suspects were nabbed following police investigation of a video that went viral on social media showing illegal mining activities in some compound houses of the town.

Investigations discovered dug-out pits from the compound leading to the bedroom of the chief’s brother.

Four other deep dug-out pits were also uncovered by the Police in other houses in the same vicinity.
