Residents of Senya Breku in the Central Region have expressed their anger on their DCE and one chief for preventing President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from attending their festival.

According to them, the President had agreed to honour the occasion until the Tufuhene of Senya Breku, Nai Ippi Kwao Bentum informed the DCE that Senya Breku is not safe for the President to visit.

This according to the residents made the DCE stop the Akomase festival, and subsequently informed the president not to step foot at Senya Breku.

They explain that the DCE, Joseph Aidoo, connived with the Tufohene and wrote series of letters to the Regional security council and the Jubilee House, that the area, is not safe for the president.

Onua News’ Nana Yaw Asare speaking with some of the aggrieved residents who expressed worry over the cancellation of the festival, and the termination of the president’s visit noted the move has deprived them the opportunity of presenting their problems to Akufo-Addo in person.

They said even though they hold affiliation with the NPP, the Tufuhene, who is an NDC has succeeded in collapsing their party and they are keen on voting against the NPP come 2024.

Their reason, they indicated, is the DCE’s inability to reason through to find out from the grounds if indeed the Tufuhene’s insinuations were true or otherwise, but going ahead to abrogate their festival and the President’s visit.

They staged a protest to register their displeasure.

This is what one of them told Nana Yaw Asare: “We are disappointed in the DCE for not telling us he has been informed of possible blood shed should our festival come off. He should have told us what Kwaseato (the Tufuhene’s as he is referred by the residents) told him. It surely shows Kwaseato doesn’t want the progress of our community and we’ll surely rebel against him. And the DCE, if he was appointed by the NPP, we’ll punish him by voting against the NPP.”

Another added that “we are 150 people and together with our wives, we make about 300. We will all vote against the NPP even though we are members of the party. We have realised that Kwaseato, the Tufuhene, wants to destroy the NPP because he is an NDC. We’ll all defect to the NDC”

“Natives of Senya who have travelled came home. We were expecting the President’s arrival to climax our festival. But if the DCE could listen to only one person to halt the President’s coming without recourse to us the majority, I hope he can’t hold anyone responsible if we vent our spleen on him,” one man also indicated.

“We expected our poor road to be fixed after the President’s visit because he would have used the road and attested to its deplorable nature himself. That would have made our lobbying easier,” concluded another.
