Host of Maakye on Onua TV has asked Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr. to apologise to the entire Volta Region for his failure to perform at the Hogbe Beach Rave Concert at the Eli Beach Resort at Keta.

Captain Smart says the Reggae Dancehall artiste would kill his brand if he continues with the trajectory he has chosen.

Speaking Monday, November 7, 2022 on his morning show, Captain Smart said even though he cannot cast Shatta Wale out as his brother for what he did, he said his action was a complete disrespect to Ghana AIDS Commission, Ebony condoms and the entire Volta Region.

“Shatta why? One dangerous thing is to become popular and act superficial. I think that you should apologise to the Ghana Aids Commission and Ebony condoms. You have disrespected the entire Volta Region. You can joke with anything but you should not joke with the people of the Volta region. Shatta Wale, be careful. There can be whatever powers behind or before you, but don’t joke with the people of the Volta Region.”

“You must apologise to the people of the Volta Region. You sat here and said you’ve been paid. Why didn’t you come? This is a blunder. You’re my brother, and I’m not going to cast you because of this but you must apologise,” Captain Smart chastised.

Meanwhile, Organisers of the Onua Festival Train Beach Rave concert –Hogbe Beach Rave — have issued an apology to patrons of the event for Shatta Wale’s inability to perform at the show as publicised.

The organisers –Onua Group and Ebony condoms — in a joint statement say everything was in place for the Reggae Dancehall artiste to perform Saturday night, after a public confirmation of the event by Shatta Wale on Onua TV with Captain Smart, following their earlier agreement.

However, the musician’s failure to show up on the grounds at the night came as a surprise to them just as it was to the patrons at the concert.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

6th November 2022, Tegbi, Volta Region:

Joint Statement – Onua TV/Onua FM and Ebony Condoms Apologise for Shatta Wale No Show at Hogbetsotso Festival Concert

The Managements of Onua Group and Ebony Condoms wish to express their regret and apologies to the thousands of people who thronged the Eli Beach Resort at Tegbi to be part of the Onua Festival Train Beach Rave concert at the 2022 Hogbetsotso Festival for the inability of the headline artiste to perform as publicised for 5th November, 2022.

Shatta Wale, who had been billed to perform as headline artiste and had agreed to do so, having signed a contract with the marketers of Ebony Condoms and subsequently appeared on Onua Maakye with Captain Smart to confirm his participation at the event was not available to perform.

It is interesting to note that Shatta Wale had showed up at the venue of the concert in vehicles rented for him and his team by the organisers yet could not be found afterwards. All efforts by both managements to get him to come to the concert grounds to perform to the waiting crowd proved futile.

It is in view of this that we wish to apologise to the audience and customers who traveled from far and near to see him perform at the Eli Beach and to the millions who stayed up late to watch him on Onua TV.
Onua brands, Ebony Condoms and all other brands and sponsors associated with the Onua Hogbetsotso Beach Rave wish to thank all the other artistes who honoured their obligations to show up and perform.

The brands connected with the Beach Rave will find ways to compensate the patrons who showed up at the event.
