Ningo Prampram Member of Parliament, Samuel Nartey George has alleged some IT personnel at the Electricity Company of Ghana are behind the recent the challenges confronting the company’s system.

He says the problem is a machinated tactic by a “cabal of criminals” who are indulging in internal power play to cripple the new Managing Director.

According to the MP, the new MD has uncovered the cabal of criminals dupe the state over GH₵200 million every month and wants to conduct an investigation, a move they’re crippling his administration to prevent.

The ECG has had challenges with its metering system for almost a week now where customers using prepaid metres have to stayed without power. This has had a toll on both businesses and domestic usage.

Mr. George is therefore asking the government to make it a priority, devoid of partisan politics, and conduct a serious probe to bring such nation wreckers to book.

Below is his statement on the issue found on his Facebook wall.

“The challenges with the ECG are extremely serious. The attack on their system was not external but carried out by a cabal of ‘criminals’ within the very same organisation.

“The government MUST as a matter of urgency commence a forensic investigation of the IT department of ECG.

“My information points to a group that has been siphoning over GH200 million every month! Yes you read that right.

“What we are witnessing is internal power play to cripple the new MD who has dared to open an investigation into these matters. The State security apparatus MUST with alacrity take this matter up and ensure the safety and protection of the MD and his team seeking to uncover the mess.

“The rot at ECG would make you sick if you truly love this Country and it is not about politicians here. It is Ghanaian citizens taking advantage of the citizens. We demand swift and immediate action! For God and Country,” Sam George wrote on his Facebook wall.
