The 2025 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) turned chaotic at Wesley Senior High School, at Konongo in the Ashanti Region.
Some candidates went on a rampage and attacked teachers for being too strict with the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) exam invigilation.
The angry candidates, pelted stones and sachet water, causing the teachers to run for their dear lives.
They launched a threatening attack on their senior House Mistress on the night of Sunday, September 7,2025 pelting her apartment with stones.
This violent response reportedly stemmed from the Mistress’ decision to disallow cheating during the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) paper.
The heavy stones thrown penetrated the kitchen creating a slit in the roof of the kitchen. They also slashed down cocoyam, maize cassava and plantain in a garden belonging to the senior House Mistress.
One of the teachers, who narrated their ordeal said the senior House Mistress was the target of the attack. According to him, the students finished their exam on Friday but returned to the school in their uniforms to launch the attack on Sunday.
He said they were with his Head of Department after the exam when a student came to inform him about the planned attack. As of the time he received the tip-off, he told us that there was a mob at the school gate who had vowed to hurt them.
Unfortunately, some sustained injuries and had to seek treatment at the hospital.
According to our source, the incident has been reported to the Police who are on high alert as the students have threatened to come again.
