Six students of the Offinso Technical Institute (OTI) in the Offinso South municipality of the Ashanti region are currently receiving treatment after a violent clash erupted between some students and suspected Zongo youths in the town.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, on the school campus, a few hours after Eid al-Adha prayers by the Muslim community in the town.

According to a teacher of the school, who spoke in an interview on condition of anonymity, there had been an existing feud between the two groups, which escalated into the unfortunate violence.

The teacher disclosed that the injured students were rushed to St. Patrick Hospital at Offinso Maase, where they are currently responding to treatment.

He further stated that several students fled the campus during the chaos and are yet to be accounted for.

“The suspected angry Zongo youths vandalized glass windows, doors, and other properties at both the Boys’ and Girls’ dormitories, as well as the Housemaster’s residence,” the teacher revealed.

He added that the matter has officially been reported to the police to help restore calm and maintain order.

According to him, the school authorities and some Zongo community leaders have since held discussions aimed at finding a peaceful resolution to the situation.
