Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has presented a detailed document to President John Dramani Mahama dismissing the claim by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) that the SML-GRA contract is filled with illegality and corruption.

SML’s move follows President Mahama’s directive to terminate all contracts between the company, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The President, through a letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, directed the immediate termination of all agreements involving SML, following the conclusion of an OSP investigation which alleged procurement breaches, contractual overreach, and questioned the genuine need for such a contract with SML.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Friday, November 7, Cephas Boyuo, one of the lawyers for SML, said the submission included comprehensive documentary evidence addressing each claim by the OSP report that formed the basis for the termination directive.

“Earlier this afternoon, we delivered a comprehensive response to the President on his directive for the contract between the Ministry of Finance, GRA, and SML to be terminated, which hinged largely on the report of the OSP.

“In the letter submitted to the President and also to the Attorney General, we provided documentary evidence to each and every paragraph and elaborated on the true and accurate picture of the GRA-Ministry of Finance-SML contract,” Boyuo said.

Mr. Boyuo called on the President to peruse all the evidence submitted about the SML contract and reconsider his termination directive.

“We are confident that a review of the documents presented to the President and the Attorney-General would help them appreciate the matters and form a fair, independent opinion on the termination directive.

“We expect that the Presidency will take their time, look at the evidence that we have provided and take a second look at the termination directive,” he added.
