Black Stars defender Tariq Lamptey has suffered a tear in his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) to the left knee following Sunday’s Italian Serie A match between Fiorentina and Como.

The 24-year-old had to be substituted in the 22nd minute at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, where his club lost 1-2 to Cesc Fabregas’ side.

According a medical report issued by Fiorentina on the former Brighton & Hove Albion player, a series of clinical and instrumental tests were conducted following the injury.

“Given the complex clinical picture, this morning, a diagnostic arthroscopy was carried out by Prof. Mariani.

“The surgery showed an isolated tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee.”

The right back, therefore, underwent a reconstruction of the ligament, which has been successful, according to the report issued on Wednesday, September 24.

“The player will return to Florence in the next few hours to begin the established rehabilitation process.”

The former Chelsea player was playing only his second game for I Viola since joining them from the Seagulls.
