A violent clash in Tarkwa between alleged National Security operatives and mine workers has left one person stabbed and a nursing mother knocked down by a car along with her baby.
The confrontation ensued between a group reportedly from Accra and workers at the Tarkwa community mine located at Ackon in the Tarkwa Nsuaem municipality of the Western Region.
According to the constituency leadership, certain elements within the party are using the name of the President to seize mining sites in the area leading to the crashes.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency executives of Tarkwa Nsuaem, has, meanwhile, called on the President to intervene in the matter.
At a press conference organised by the leadership Thursday, March 13, 2025, Chairman of the constituency, Danlard Saed, underscored the need for the President’s intervention to prevent the incidents that are deliberately tarnishing his image.

He expressed shock that the party would behave in such a manner only three months into power, describing the situation as both “barbaric and concerning.”
Saed emphasized that it is crucial for the party to address this issue promptly, as they endured significant challenges before winning the Tarkwa Nsuaem seat.
The constituency leadership is calling on the President and the Interior Ministry to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, warning the development could escalate into further chaos if the matter is not addressed.
Meanwhile, the constituency Women’s Organiser, Diana Awuah, on her part called on the President not to rein in his associates at the expense of those who fought for the party during its time in opposition.

Meanwhile, the Western South Police Command has taken control of the area to restore calm and protect the community mining operations.
