The Tatale-Sanguli District Assembly has cut the sod for the construction of a new fire station in Tatale, on Tuesday 21st April, 2026 to boost emergency response and enhance public safety.

The ceremony, held in Tatale, brought together key stakeholders including the Northern Regional Minister, John Ali Adolf, the Member of Parliament for Tatale-Sanguli, Steve Ayo Williams, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mary Tagba, chiefs and traditional leaders, officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), led by the Regional Fire Commander, ACFOI Joseph Koranteng and members of the community.

Addressing the gathering, the DCE highlighted the district’s urgent need for a dedicated fire station due to increasing fire incidents and delayed response times.

The chiefs, in their remarks, expressed gratitude to government for the intervention and pledged land and full community support to ensure the project’s success.

The Member of Parliament noted that beyond improving emergency services, the project will create jobs for local youth during and after construction. He urged the contractor to deliver quality work and complete the project on schedule.

In his keynote address, the Northern Regional Minister said the fire station forms part of government’s commitment to decentralize emergency services and bring them closer to rural communities. He appealed to residents to cooperate with GNFS personnel and take fire safety education seriously.

The sod was officially cut by the Regional Minister, assisted by the MP, DCE, and the chiefs of Tatale, to mark the commencement of work.

When completed, the Tatale Fire Station is expected to reduce fire response time, serve as a base for GNFS personnel and equipment, support regular public safety education, and strengthen collaboration between GNFS and local authorities.

The ceremony ended with a call on all stakeholders to support the timely completion of the project for the benefit of the entire district.
