Nii Aryee Opare of the Economic Fighters League has indicated rather than the much touted ‘Big Six’ in Ghana’s struggle for self governance, it was a ‘Big One’.
He believes the five other members of the big six are cowards who deserve no honour in Ghana’s history as forbearers.
According to him, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah should be singlehandedly accorded that honour since the others, like the Biblical Simon Peter, denounced Nkrumah at the critical moment of the struggle.
Making his contribution to whether Ghana has a Founder or Founders, Nii Aryee disclosed the other five said “Nkrumah is the troublemaker” and not them when they were summoned before authority for instigating some disturbances.
He says he therefore doesn’t understand, based on their denouncement, why they should turn around and claim glory as founders of the Ghana.
“After the 1948 riots, these big six were arrested and sent to the Kumasi Fort. When they were invited by the Ga Traditional Council, five of the big six said they’re not part of the disturbances but it’s Nkrumah who is the trouble maker. They’re mad. So the Ga Traditional Council invited only Nkrumah and scolded him. There was no big six there was a big one,” he averred.
