Former Member of Parliament for Bantama, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has said that the New Patriotic Party, is gearing up towards rebuilding agenda.

He believes that the outcome of the January 31,2026, presidential primary shows that the party is coming back to life after the 2024 general election defeat.

Speaking to our reporter in Kumasi, Dr Kokofu, called on the rank and file of the party to bury their differences to ensure united front.

“The rank and file have been activated. People came forward to cast their votes. In all, it is a victory for NPP, the grassroots party hinges on. So, all the glory goes to the teeming delegates who comported themselves in a manner that we have little to complain about,” he said.

According to Dr Kokofu, “They did well if I should take my Bantama for instance. When you come and find people in a queue, you might think you were voting for only one candidate because everybody was everybody’s friend and be your brother’s keeper. Cordiality, relationship was perfect. You wouldn’t see anybody arguing with the other because you do not support my candidate. So, it has been a very good encounter, and this is the beginning of the process leading to rejuvenating the party and also reactivating the base.”

The former Member of Parliament for Bantama called on delegates, grassroots supporters, and leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to set aside all differences and unite behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to ensure victory in the 2028 general election.

According to him, the strength of the NPP has always been rooted in unity, discipline, and collective effort, stressing that now more than ever, the party must close ranks and focus on winning power for a historic continuation of its development agenda.

Dr Kokofu , noted that internal divisions and lingering grievances after the party’s internal contest could weaken the NPP’s chances if not addressed with maturity and patriotism. He therefore urged party members to rise above personal interests and put the future of the party and the nation first.

“It is time to put all differences aside and rally solidly behind Dr. Bawumia. The NPP is one united family, and our success in 2028 will depend on how well we work together as a team,” he stated.

He further appealed to aspirants who were unsuccessful in the contest to accept the outcome in good faith and lend their experience, resources, and influence to support the party’s flagbearer. He described such gestures as signs of true leadership and loyalty to the party.

He stressed that unity, teamwork, and discipline are critical ingredients for winning elections, adding that Dr. Bawumia possesses the competence, vision, and experience needed to lead the NPP to victory in 2028.

He encouraged party supporters at all levels to remain committed, active, and focused on the bigger goal of retaining power, assuring them that a united NPP remains a formidable force capable of winning the confidence of Ghanaians once again.
