The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects following the interception of approximately five million tablets of Tramadol with an estimated street value of GH¢100 million at the Accra International Airport.
The arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation targeting the attempted importation of the controlled pharmaceutical drug, as part of NACOC’s intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking and safeguard public health and national security.
According to preliminary investigations, the consignment was intended for distribution within Ghana and possibly other countries in the sub-region.
NACOC believes the seizure may be linked to a wider drug trafficking syndicate and has launched further investigations to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the operation.

The Commission said the seized Tramadol tablets have been secured as evidence while forensic and documentary examinations continue.
NACOC reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and ensuring that those involved in the illicit trade are brought to justice.
The Commission also appealed to the public to support law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious activities related to narcotics trafficking.
The three suspects are expected to be arraigned before court upon the completion of investigations in accordance with narcotics laws.
