Negotiations have began to determine the 2025 Minimum Wage for workers, a communication from the Office of the President has disclosed.
This involves a committee comprising government representatives, employers and organised labour/associations.
A statement signed by the Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu Tuesday, February 04, 2025, indicated that the Tripartite Committee began its work on Monday, February 03.
It said the conversation on base pay for workers in the public sector will begin once the discussion of the minimum wage is concluded.
According to the Public Financial Management Act (PFMA) however, these discussions were supposed to be completed by April ending 2024 but have been delayed.
The government has therefore urged its social partners, including employers and organised labour to expedite discussions to ensure a timely resolution due to the delay and its potential impact on the 2025 Budget planning process.
