The police have announced the arrest of two more persons following intelligence-led operation in investigations into the stabbing to death of ardent Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, last Sunday.

This brings to five the total number of persons arrested in connection with the tragic incident.

Three persons including the Chief Executive Officer of Nsoatreman FC, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, were arrested on Monday, February 3 and put on trial the following day.

The initial three arrested included a former minister of state

Joseph Kyeremeh and Mr Baffour Awuah, who is also a former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, were granted bail at GH¢500,000 each with two sureties, one to be justified.

The third arrested, Agyemang Duah Owusu, was remanded in custody to reappear on Monday, February 17.

According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday, February 5, Isaac Ofosu and Augustine Yeboah, the freshly arrested, are in custody to assist in ongoing investigations.

It also assured that “intelligence-led operation is still ongoing to get the rest of the perpetrators arrested to face justice”.

The sad incident on Sunday, February 2 occurred near the Prof Amoah Koramansah II Park in Nsoatre, where Asante Kotoko lost by a lone goal to Nsoatreman FC.
