Ghana’s University of Development Studies (UDS) have been crowned champions of the FISU World University Games in China after beating Paulista University of Brazil 2-1 in the final.
The Ghanaians came from 1-0 down in the first half to secure the victory in extra time.
It was the second time the two sides were meeting in the competition as they drew 1-1 in the group phase.
But after a cagey start, the Brazilians drew first blood in the first half.
However, the Ghanaians drew level before the end of the game, forcing the game into extra time.
It was in extra time that the Ghanaians completed their comeback.
The only Africans in the competition in Dalian, China, UDS get the bragging rights as the World University champions.
