The Ashanti regional minister, Simon Osei Mensah has tasked MMDCEs to complete all projects in their areas before commencing new ones.

According to the minister, unless it is critical, urgent or very necessary, no government appointee should undertake any new project whilst existing ones linger.

Speaking at the 66th independence day celebration in Kumasi, the minister admitted the current economic challenges but entreated the MMDCEs to do more to better the lives of their people.

“…Let me take this opportunity to encourage all the MMDCEs, members of Parliament of the region and all other government appointees to actively monitor these projects for their utmost completion for the people to enjoy the full benefits of them.

“Additionally, in the middle of the current economic challenges, I urge all MMDCEs to concentrate and complete all ongoing projects except in situations where it is very necessary, urgent and critical that they can commence new ones.”

Simon Osei Mensah also debunked claims that the current NPP government has not executed any monumental project in the Ashanti region.

He listed the Boankra Inland Port, the Residential Accommodation Complex for Appeals Court Judges, Paramedics Training School, the Greenhouse Village and a host of others.
