General Secretary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eugene Yaw Boakye Antwi, has promised to resource all constituency executives of the party with GH¢25,000 each by the end of November if elected as General Secretary.
He says his experience as an eight-year Member of Parliament and four-year Deputy Minister sets him apart from all his contenders in the race, and gives him the capacity to understand government and to raise funds to run the party.
Boakye Antwi made the pledge on Onua TV’s morning show, Maakye, on Monday, August 31, 2026, when he outlined what he intends to do for the party’s grassroots if given the mandate.
“I’ve been MP for 8 years and none of my contenders has been MP for 8 years. I’ve been Deputy Minister for 4 years and none of them have been Deputy Minister for 4 years. There’s nothing you’ll do in government that wouldn’t go through Parliament. Secondly, I’ve been in government and I know how to raise funds, something I knew even before becoming an MP,” he said.
According to him, resourcing the party’s executives is key to rebuilding and energising the base ahead of the 2028 general elections, insisting that the party must separate the men from the boys when it comes to funding.
“I’m using this Onua TV platform to inform all constituency chairmen and all their executives that, me, if I’m voted for on 3rd October, by the end of November, everybody will get their 5,000,” he initially stated.
When host, JB, asked him to repeat what he said for clarity, he clarified that every constituency would receive GH¢25,000 and put his name on the line if he fails to deliver.
“I Yaw Boakye, promise every NPP executive that, if they vote for me in Kumasi, end of November, every constituency will get GHC25,000.00. It could even be more. I am Yaw Boakye and if I’m not able to do it, call me Yaa Boakyewaa,” he stressed.
Boakye Antwi explained that he has done the calculations and the total amount involved is about GH¢1.4 million, stressing that the money will be found to resource the executives to work.
“This is where you separate the men from the boys. The money will be found, we are going to resource the executives to work,” he added.
Mr. Boakye Antwi is eyeing the NPP General Secretary position as the party rebuilds for 2028. He declared his intention to contest the General Secretary position of the NPP as it prepares for its national executive elections on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
