A man believed to be a city guard assigned by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has brutalised a woman who is a trader at the Kejetia Market in Kumasi, on Wednesday.

The disturbing video of the incident has already gone viral.

The woman has been identified as a widow, nearing her 50s.

This woman is seen brutally being assaulted by this man alleged to be a member of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly task force, deployed to the Central Business District.

He is later identified as a community police assistant attached to the KMA by the Youth Employment gency.

Already, Onua News’ source at the Regional Police Command has denied any knowledge of him.

Brisk business is common on streets within the Central Business District.

Community police assistants support the KMA City guards to control traffic, sometimes ward these hawkers from the busy stretch.

But, Wednesday’s exercise is seen by many as brutal.

The victim is identified as Achiaa, a widow with five children by an eyewitness who also hawks at the same spot.

Most of the hawkers here witnessed the incident but wouldn’t speak to us on camera for fear of being victimised

His other colleagues including many others watched on as the women scream for help

This is the second time a a local assembly task force is seen assaulting a civilian.

On June 14, 2022, a similar incident happened at Agyaako Buoho in the Afigya Kwabre South District.

The case is still in court.

In the latest case of assault, our checks at the police revealed no official complaint has been lodged almost 24 hours after the incident

The incident is yet to be reported to the police as at the time this report was being filed.
